One thing the Internet has been a blessing for is the easy access to all types of fan-driven art for geeky movies.

Dave Perillo makes original movie posters for some of his favourite movies, like “Star Wars”, “Dawn of the Dead” and “Shaun of the Dead”. The above poster, for the Mos Eisley Cantina in “A New Hope” is full of charm and levity.

Is there anything better than the villains of Mos Eisley, rendered as whimsical cartoon characters? I’d love to see an animated series like this, perhaps with some wandering-bass funk from the 70s. Or the original Space Jazz played in the movie, accompanied by the sounds of lightsabres.

George A. Romero’s “Dawn of the Dead” wasn’t as frightening as it was a light-hearted apocalyptic film… it was hard not to laugh at the Hare Krishna zombie, aching for the taste of human flesh.

Perillo’s poster for the film, though, makes it look positively adorable, like we’re fortunate that there’s no more room in Hell.

If you enjoyed Perillo’s art, you might also fancy the posters of Tom Whalen, who does fantastic Saul Bass-inspired posters for Star Wars, as well.
