For Your Consideration trailer - click!
Christopher Guest and co. turn their free-wheeling satirical talents towards Hollywood and the Oscar-baiting machine. 'For Your Consideration' are the words used by the studios when putting forward who or what they hope will be nominated for an Oscar by the Academy, and judging from the above trailer, this film is going to dance all over the whole process and hoopla that has become every bit as much a part of Hollywood as cinema itself.
Guest has carved a niche for himself and his regulars with their inspirational brand of ad-libbed mockumentary. More than satire, the subjects he chooses for his films become vehicles for the actors to pin their jokes and performances on. The humour is more about characterisation than providing biting commentary on serious subjects, hence their previous films being dedicated to less hard-hitting industries of competition... IE. Dog shows, amateur theatre and folk music. The style has been very successful for Guest's ensemble, even to the point that it's starting to become a genre (EG. The recent wedding mockumentary 'Confetti'), and they're the sort of films that get funnier the more times you watch them.
'For Your Consideration' promises to continue the solid quality of these films. Hollywood films about Hollywood are often never short of entertaining, and Ricky Gervais - who is no stranger to ad-libbed comedy - joins the team here too, which should provide some awkward laughs.
Looking forward to this one.

And you're just a boy really.
Nice, clean, clear writing, very well expressed and on a good theme.
You didn't seem to be very worried about your school exams. What do you propose to do next year?
I'm sure you'll get the results you're expecting, you're so laid back you must be very good at whatever you do at school to get you the marks necessary.
Do tell, I'm very interested.
