Crack a Solo... and be a Solo man!

August 18th 2006 03:49

Hushes a man-sized thirst! - click for a filmclip of some awesome 80s-Australia action.

Hahahahaha, this Australian ad for Solo is straight out of the 80s. The music, the vocie-over, the guy's handle-bar moustache... it all adds up to pure gold. Check out the theme song that cracks in at the end too, very reminiscent of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's singing from South Park and Team America, only of course in this clip it isn't meant to be a joke!

It's from 1986 and apparently had to be transferred from a betamax tape before being uploaded onto the net.

Batman Villains Unite!

August 17th 2006 05:23
Well, it looks like the new Batman sequel is gearing up for some big multi-villain action. I don't know whether this is a good thing or not... I think Batman Begins would've been perfect had it just concentrated on one villain, and the way the next film is shaping up it looks like it will feature three major villains from the franchise, so I dunno ay...

Heath Ledger has signed up to play The Joker, which I think is interesting casting and could possibly be very inspired. Not everyone else is convinced, but I like Ledger a lot and I can't wait to see how he does it.

Philip Seymour Hoffman

Philip Seymour Hoffman, last year's Oscar winner and all-round astounding character actor, is apparently in talks to play The Penguin. Now, this would be excellent casting, but The Penguin and The Joker in one film? How are they going to give either any decent screen time, especially when such talent is being employed to play them.

Ryan Witherspoon, oops, I mean Phillipe

Now, on top of this, Ryan Phillipe is shaping up to play Two-Face! There's not enough room I tells ya! You can't have Two-Face, The Joker and The Penguin all in the one film... it'll be ridiculous and fanwanky. I don't think I really approve of Phillipe's involvement either, normally I'd give him a chance, but not if they're overegging this film so much.

Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman are all set to return from the first film too. It will apparently be called 'The Dark Knight'... which is very cool, but I'll be surprised if the studios release it as that without using the word 'Batman' in the title somewhere. They can be narky about things like that.

Here's hoping Christopher Nolan strikes gold again, I think Batman Begins is the best Batman film we've been given so far, let's see if he can take it even further.
