The success of the Marvel universe films, TV shows and games over the last decade has been phenomenal. According to BoxOffice Mojo, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has generated over 3.5 billion dollars in ticket sales since 2008! The incredible successful franchise shows no signs of slowing down as we take a look at the excited multimedia releases we can expect over the coming 2-3 years. We’ll be listing some of the most highly anticipated movies, games and TV shows featuring our favorite superheroes.

Upcoming Marvel Movies
Following from 2015’s Ant Man starring Paul Rudd, the next film in the franchise takes us back to the adventures of Captain America in “Civil War” – launching in May 6th next year. Considering the subject matter that the title brings to mind, we expect the conflict between Iron Man and Captain America will have long-lasting influences on the future of the Marvel cinematic universe.
Next up we’ve got a new character entering our screens with “Doctor Strange” starring Benedict Cumberbatch. We loved Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes (coming back soon) and Khan in “Star Trek into Darkness”, so we have high hopes for this one.
Guardians of the Galaxy “Vol 2” is released around 6 months later and will see the return of the main cast along with Benicio Del Toro as “The Collector” – a character that has made minor appearances in two Marvel films to date.
Following a confirmed role in Civil War, we’ll then see Spider Man (played by Tom Holland) in his first cinematic outing under the Marvel banner (previously under Sony). Spider-Man is scheduled from release on July 28th 2017.

Marvel Games Releases
Scheduled for release later this year, we’re looking forward to “Marvel: Future Light” coming later December on iOS and Android. This dungeon crawler developed by Netmarble Games is a single player game allowing players to control familiar characters such as Ant Man, Hulk and Captain America. Future Light looks like a promising mobile pick-up-n-play game that will keep us entertained at the bus stop for months to come!
Early next year, January 26th to be exact, the multiplatform action-adventure “Lego Marvel’s Avengers” is hitting shelves. Available on PC, Nintendo 3DS, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, the game is a sort-of sequel to 2013’s “Lego Marvel Super Heroes” and will see the return of the franchise’s most renowned characters. We’ve got high hopes for the upcoming game as 2013’s release was generally well received with a 9/10 from IGN and 4 stars from The Escapist.
For those that enjoy the high octane gaming experience, you can also get your Marvel fix with free online games. For instance, you can find lots of online casinos, which are gaining lots of popularity today, such as Mansion Casino. In this Australian online casino, Marvel players get all favorite online Marvel-themed slots. You can find Iron Man, Spiderman, Wolverine and more Marvel games.

New & Old Marvel Universe TV Shows
At least six new TV Shows based on the Marvel Universe are currently in development such as “Most Wanted” (featuring characters “Bobbi Morse” and “Lance Hunter”) and Damage Control. We also see the return of existing ABC and Netflix programs such as Agents of SHIELD (returning for 3rd season in the winter), Daredevil (season two coming 2016) and Agent Carter (also airing season 2 in 2016).
Along with Daredevil, Netflix will release four new TV shows set in the Marvel Universe over the next two years! We don’t know much about these upcoming adventures on the small screen yet – but here’s what we know:
Jessica Jones is a series based on the comic books with the same name about a former superhero suffering from PTSD that opens a detective agency. Starring Krysten Ritter and David Tennant (Kilgrave), the show received “overwhelmingly positive” reviews at a recent early screening at NY Comic Con. Check Netflix on November 20th for the entire first season.
Luke Cage follows the adventures of an ex-con with superhuman strength and unbreakable skin that, obviously, fights crime. Starring Mike Colter and Mahershala Ali, the show hits VOD in 2016.
The two series we know the least about are Iron Fist and The Defenders. Iron Fist follows martial arts expert Dany Rand , while The Defenders sees the teaming up for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist in New York City. The defenders begins filming following the completion of the new tv shows.

Whether it’s on the silver screen, in our pockets or on Video on Demand, we’ve certainly got a lot of content set in the Marvel Universe to look forward to over the coming year or two. I’m thrilled to see new characters such as Ant Man perform well at the box office and that Daredevil managed to capture the dark backstory that we loved from the comics.
